If all goes according to plan a new nursing home in Perth-Andover will open in two years.
Ron Cummings the Board Chairman for the Victoria Glen Manor says skematic drawings are nearing completion and construction is expected to start next spring.
Cummings says the new facility will have five fewer beds than the current one and planning for that transition will be a bit of a challenge.
Cummings says the new Victoria Glen Manor will be built in Perth-Andover but it's exact location can't be released until paperwork is finalized.
In 2010 the previous Liberal government had promised to replace the Victoria Glen Manor, but those plans were thrown out by the current Conservative government.
The Liberals promised a new, $19.5-million, 65 bed, state of the art facility by the summer of 2012.
The Conservatives have promised to spend $285-million on new and replacement nursing homes around the province, however there has been no indication on how much was earmarked for VGM.
