Daylight Saving Time This Weekend

Daylight Saving Time kicks in this weekend.   When you
go to bed Saturday night set your clock ahead one hour, and
on Sunday morning you'll wake up in Daylight Saving time.

Bowl for Kids Event

Bowl for kids sake is the largest fund raiser of the year for Big Brothers / Big Sisters of Carleton York.  Please help by tuning into CTV on March 10 from 5 to 6 for a full hour of celebrating the event.  Every dollar called in locally will stay here.  Get set to call the toll free number on March 10............1-877-442-5437.  And please support Bowl for Kids Sake on March 27th.

Hartland Library - Helping Hands

The Hartland Library is taking registrations for their award-winning "Helping Hands" program.  This is a free program for children who will be entering Kindergarten and their parent/caregiver to attend together.  The program will be held Friday mornings for 10 weeks beginning March 12.  Class size is limited.  For further information or to register, contact the Hartland Library at 375-4876.

Hartland Blood Donor Clinic

Blood Donor Clinic at the Hartland United Baptist Church on Thursday, March 11, from 2 to 4 and 5:30 to 7:30 pm.  Give the Gift of Life.  Sponsored by Crime Stoppers and Subway.

Firearm Safety/Hunter Education Course

From March 7 – 13, 2010, Scouts Canada is celebrating our first ever National Good Turn Week, and we are totally pumped.   Each of our youth will be wearing a bright orange “Good Turn” wristband, but they won’t stay on for long.  They’ll do a good turn, pass on the wristband, then that person will do a good turn and pass on the wristband, and pretty soon, everybody will be catching the wave.  Remember, it all starts with just one good turn to show everybody the goodness that makes us all great!  For healthy, active living, for leadership, for a cleaner world… for good: that’s Scouting!  For more information call 1-888-Scouts-Now.

Turkey Supper Fundraiser

The Canterbury Fire Department will host a Turkey Supper on Saturday, March 13, from 4:30 to 6:30 pm at the Canterbury Community Centre.  All proceeds for the Canterbury High School Graduation Class for 2010.  Come out for Turkey with all the trimmings and dessert.

Spring Craft Sale

Carleton Mall will host a Spring Craft Sale on Friday, March 26 from 10am to 9pm and on Saturday, March 27 from 9am to 5pm.  If you'd like to put a table in, please call CJ 104 at 325-3030.  You must provide your own table and cost is $10.00 per table per day. Proceeds from table rentals will go to Big Brothers/Big Sisters.

A "Red Cross First Aid Course" is being offered in Woodstock on Monday & Tuesday, March 22 & 23, at the Atlantic Inns in Jacksonville.  Call the Red Cross at 1-877-356-3226 to register.

Concert - World Hope Ukraine

Wyatt Morrell and Friends will be in concert at the Woodstock High School on Saturday, March 27 at 7 pm.  There will be blues, bluegrass, country, gospel & rock music. Advance tickets available at MES Music and Newnham & Slipp.  Proceeds in support of World Hope Ukraine mission team from the Woodstock Wesleyan Church.

Bowl For Kids Sake Sat March 27

The annual Bowl For Kids Sake, for Big Brothers Big Sisters is Saturday March 27 at the Woodstock Bowlacade.   Start putting your bowling team together, and get more information from Big Brothers Big Sisters by calling their Woodstock office at 328 - 2094.   Lots of prizes to win through the day of bowling, even a special Super Prize for the Top Fundraiser.

Women in Art Presentation

The W.W. Craig Gallery in the Hartland Library will present for the month of March "Women in Art" featuring the art of Jody Coughlin, Judy Daye, Jean Haywood and Ann Kittredge.  Everyone Welcome to stop in and view the display.  On Thursday, March 4, from 6 to 8 pm, there will be a reception.  Come and meet the artists.

Talent Show- March 28th at 2pm, WHS Theatre.

This year's contestants have chosen to donate a portion of the funds raised from ticket sales to a scholarship in memory of their friend/classmate Kelti Burnett.

Hugh John Flemming Bridge Closure

The Hugh John Flemming Bridge in Hartland will be reduced to one lane starting on March 29th to June 30th.

There will be four scheduled closures, each for 72 hours, when concrete pours are undertaken for the new deck.

The alternate route for all truck traffic will be Route 130 through Florenceville.

School buses will have to modify their routes when the bridge is closed, and most farming equipment will have to use an alternate route during the full construction period due to the restricted width of the bridge.
