The German brewery, celebrating its 140th birthday this year, recently decided to pay homage to a different kind of tradition after noticing the similarities between the shape of its beer bottles and the old-school Edison cylinder, which was used to play recorded sound before the advent of the modern platter-style disc. So the company created a bottle that plays music.
It’s a really cool idea but one that came with all kinds of technical hurdles. As you can see in the video, Beck’s engineers had to answer a number of tricky questions before they could get a decent sound out of the bottle.
Bluesman Gary Clark Jr. was the featured guest Wednesday night in Boston as the Rolling Stones played the 14th stop on their “50 & Counting” arena tour.
Clark joined the band for “I’m Going Down,” as he did previously twice in December – once in Brooklyn and once in New Jersey.
The Stones will play Boston again on Friday before heading to Philadelphia for two dates next week; the North American tour wraps June 24 in Washington. Just a few more North American dates left for the Stones before they head to England June 29.
The bands Summer tour kicks off June 15 in Rancho Mirache California.
This was the 3 rd show in Chicago on the " 50 and Counting" tour. So far Taj Mahal and Sheryl Crow have joined the Stones in the Windy City. " As Tears Go By "was originally recorded by Jagger's then-girlfriend Marianne Faithfull, who had a Top 10 hit with the song in 1964. The Stones didn't perform it live until 2005.
