Gallop Prominent during his four decades in town

The funeral for a former Woodstock Mayor will be held later this week after he died in hospital over the weekend.

Gerald Allison Gallop was a prominent member of the community from 1948 until the late 1980's -- he died on Saturday, April 28, at the age of 90.

Gallop was Deputy Mayor in Woodstock from 1963 to 1966, and was Mayor from 66 to 69.

Gallop also chaired a number of organizations during his time in town.

He was the head of the Board of Trustees for the Carleton Memorial Hospital, the Woodstock Rotary Club, and the Old Home Week Commission

A funeral for the Gallop will take place Wednesday, May 2, at the St. Luke's Anglican Church in Woodstock.
