BMG Special Products' It's Post Time: The Encore Collection is a mixed bag. It does contain a handful of Mike Post's famous movie and TV themes, including "The A-Team," "Theme from St. Elsewhere" and "Theme from Terms of Endearment," but much of it is dedicated to covers of '80s hits like "Footloose," "Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)," "Beat It," "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me" and "Think of Laura." They're not bad, but they're not great, either -- they sound as if they were easy-listening TV themes instead of pop tunes. It's a weird collection that isn't without its merits, but listeners should be aware of what they're getting into.
